Manchester United Football Club were founded in 1902 they were formally known as Newton Heath F.C and before that Newton Heath.  The club was given it's name after nearing bankruptcy in 1902 and being taken over by J H Davies who chose the name Manchester United over Manchester Central and Manchester Celtic.   They play at their home ground called Old Trafford and have become one of the world's most successful clubs with over 50 million supporters worldwide.  Manchester United are second only to Liverpool in terms of the number of trophies won by an English football club.
