Newcastle Football Club are nicknamed 'The Magpies' or 'The Toon' and are based in Newcastle Upon Tyne and were formed in 1892 from the merger of two clubs; Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End.  The club plays at St James' Park which is the old Newcastle West End ground.  Newcastle originally played in red and white stripes however in 1904 they changed their kit to black and white stripes to avoid confusion with their neighbouring club Sunderland.
