Hello Kitty is the most well known character produced by Japanese company Sanrio.  Hello Kitty was created in Tokyo in 1974 and registered in 1976, characterised as a white kitten often with a bow in the left ear or some other decoration.  Hello Kitty is host to a whole collection of similar characters and she even has her own kitten.  Originally this character was marketed at the pre-adolescent female however Hello Kitty has become so famous around the world that even Pop Stars and other famous people have been seen wearing or sporting some form of Hello Kitty merchandise. In Japan, Hello Kitty has become so part of the culture penetrating every aspect of daily life that she can be seen on the side of airplanes, shop windows, noodle packets, hand bags and a million other products.
